Investigation of the relationship between the public service motivations and the levels of organizational identification of sports federation employees

Investigation of the Relationship between the Public Service Motivations and the Levels of Organizational Identification of Sports Federation Employees The aim of this research is to examine the public service motivation level and organizational identification levels of the personnel working in Sports Federations. The universe of the research consists of permanent and contracted personnel working in sports federations in 2021 and 2022. The sample consisted of 229 federation personnel determined by the easily accessible sampling method from the universe. For the purpose of the research, the Public Service Motivation Scale, the Organizational Identification Scale and the Personal Information Form created by the researcher were used. The consistency of the answers obtained through the scales used in the research was evaluated with the Cronbach Alpha coefficient. The normality evaluations of the data obtained in the study were made with the Skewness and Kurtosis values. Independent Groups T-test and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were applied in line with the normal distribution of the data. Pearson Correlation coefficient was calculated to evaluate the relationships between the variables. In all analyzes, the level of significance was accepted as p<0.05. As a result of the study, a significant difference was found in the public service motivation sub dimensions of the sports federation employees participating in the research, according to their education level, in public sensitivity and responsibility towards society. It has been determined that as the level of education increases, the mean scores of public awareness and responsibility towards society increase significantly. In addition, it was determined that the organizational identification scores of the contracted federation personnel were significantly higher than the other personnel according to their working status. On the other hand, it has been determined that there is a moderate and significant relationship between the sub-dimensions of public service motivation and organizational identification
