Examination of exercise addiction of sports high school students

This thesis examined the exercise addiction levels of Sports High School students in Gaziantep, Turkey, regarding gender, undergraduate status, type of sport, age, mother's and father's education level, class level, income level, and residence variables. Ethics Committee Approval was received for the study from the Gaziantep University Health Sciences Executive Board with the decision numbered 2022/59 at its meeting numbered E-47989649-300-279525 dated 29.12.2022. The study consists of 263 sports high school students, 103 girls, and 160 boys, selected through convenience sampling, studying at Sports High Schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Gaziantep province in 2023-2024. "Personal Information Form" prepared by the researcher as a data collection tool for this research with the "Exercise Addiction Scale" developed by Tekkurşun-Demir at all. (2018) was used. Descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and Pearson correlation analysis were applied to the data. Statistical results were evaluated at p<0.05 significance level. According to the information given on this subject, it has been said that the majority of sports high schools participating in the maya are addicted to exercise, licensed athletes have a higher level of exercise addiction, those who engage in team sports have a higher ability to exercise, and those residing in provinces and districts are more addicted to exercise. No significant differences were detected in the freedom psychotherapy scores of gender, age, class level, parents' education level, and income level variables.
