Abstract (EN)

Bringing up the factors that have the influence on forming the athlete identity constitutes the purpose of this research.337 Student-Athletes who are active in different sport clubs took part in this research. Athletic identity measurement scale (10 items), academic identity measurement scale (10 items) and parental factors (21 items) have been applied to participants. Descriptive and confirmative factor analysis have been used in the studies of validity and reability of scales also data T test, one way ANOVA and MANOVA have been applied when compared to those data. However, structural Equation Modeling has been used for testing hypothesis model. When the student-athletes have been compared to each other, in terms of their sports where they take part, it is stated that the ones who are active in team sports have a dominant athlete identity but the ones who are active in individual sports have a dominant student identity. Moreover, when they have been taken into consideration in the way of their developmental stages, it is seen that as the agep eriod is going down, their student-athlete identity is becoming more apparent and they gain more parental support. In terms of concern factor of the families, it is concluded that as the parents are increasing the attention on their children, the students? athlete identity is getting distinctive and they feel much more support from their parents. Furthermore, it is confirmed that parental factors are effective on occurring athlete identity; when the hypothesis model has been tested, the more effective the parental factors become, the more athlete-student identity is going to strengthen, in contrast; the less effective the parental factor become, the more it is going to become weakened. Keywords: Student ?Athletes ID, Parental Support and Pressure Factors, Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Structural Equation Modeling
