Abstract (EN)

This research aims to determine the effect of sports on family communication. The research was designed in relational screening model, one of the quantitative methods. The sample group was 270 men determined by simple random sampling; It consists of 542 people, including 272 female participants. In order to obtain the data of the research, the Erdoğan and Anık (2018) Family Communication Patterns Scale, which was adapted into Turkish, was used, apart from the Personal Information Form created by the researcher as a result of the literature review and the Regular Sports Information Form to determine the regular sports status. When the reliability values of the Family Communication Patterns Scale and its sub-dimensions were calculated, the total score was determined as 0.721. The reliability limit was specified as 0.70 according to Sijtsma (2009), and it is seen that the scale to be used in the research meets this condition. In the research, descriptive and descriptive statistical methods were used by using SPSS 25.0 program for the statistical analysis of the data. The evaluation of the data was made at the 95% confidence interval and at the p<.05 significance level. Frequency and percentage analysis was used to define the data, t-test was used for paired groups and One Way Anova analysis was used for groups with more than two. Pearson Correlation analysis was performed to determine the relationship between the questionnaires applied in the study. As a result of the analysis; It was found that 50% of the participants did not do sports, and that they did sports on certain days, the average daily time of doing sports was 44 minutes. Based on the findings about whether the status of doing regular sports differs according to demographic variables, it is concluded that there is a differentiation according to gender, age, settlement, parental education level, family income level, and parent profession group. As a result of the analysis carried out to determine the level of intra-familial communication of the participants, it was concluded that the level of intra-familial communication was high. When we look at the findings related to the effect of demographic variables in terms of intra-family communication, it is concluded that there is no difference according to gender, age, settlement, mother and father education level, number of siblings, family income level, mother and father profession group. According to the results of the regression analysis conducted to examine the relationship between the participants' regular sports activities and intra-familial communication, it is understood that there is no relationship between regular sports activities and intra-familial communication.
