Researching awareness on spine health of the individuals referred to a chiropractic clinic with upper back pain

This study titled "Researching Awareness On Spine Health Of The Individuals Referred To A Chiropractic Clinic With Upper Back Pain" aimed to raise awareness about spine health with the recommendations and informations of the chiropractic specialist. The third sustainable development goal of the "United Nations", "Ensuring Healthy Lives and Promoting Health Well-being for All at All Ages" is taken as the core principle for this study. 60 participants approved the voluntary consent form and participated in the planned study in institutions with permission. First of all, demographic information of the participants was obtained, then a questionnaire study was conducted to question awareness about spine health. The questionnaire studies were administered before and at least 4 weeks after the interview with participations. The data were explained in percentages and frequencies, and the rate of awareness was analyzed with the Chi-Square test. The statistical analysis of the answers to the question "How much do you know about chiropractic treatment?" increased from 2.57±1.9 (Avg.±SD) to 4.28±0.9 (Avg±SD). The statistical analysis of the answers to the question "How much do you know about the things you need to do to protect your spine health?" increased from 2.83±1.2 (Avg.±SD) to 4.23±0.8 (Avg.±SD). A significant difference was found between the responses to the question "Do you exercise to protect your spine health?". While 36 (60%) of the participants do not work desk-based or sitting, 24 (40%) work desk-based or sitting. The rate of desk-based workers standing up 3-4times a day to protect their spine health was 3.6% before the interview, this rate increased to 53.6% after the interview. In the majority of the other questionnaire questions, it was observed that the study raised awareness on spine health. Statistical analysis also showed that the participants' awareness of spine health increased at the end of the study. Keywords: Spine Health, Chiropractic, Spine Health Awareness, Upper Back Pain
