Abstract (EN)

Purpose: The object of this study is to show the correlation between fibrinogen/albümin ratio and severity of coronary arter disease as a indicative parameter of diffusiveness of atherosclerosis. Material and methods: This study was conducted on 135 patients at Dicle University school of Medicine Department of Cardiology between March 2016 - June 2016. Patients who are between 40-85 ages and underwent coronary angiography diagnosed with stable angina pectoris according to the guideline of stable coronary artery disease published by European Society of Cardiology on 2013 are included in this study. The severity of atherosclerosis was assessed by using Syntax scores. Patients were divided into a control group (n=65) and a diseased group (n=70) according to existence of normal coronary artery (NCA) or of stenosis in coronary artery. According to syntax score the diseased group was divided into two subgroups. The patients (n=45) who have low syntax score constituted one group and the patients (n=25) who have medium-high syntax score constituted the other group. Groups were similar on demographic and clinical characteristics. Fibrinojen/albümin ratio of the groups were compared. Results: Fibrinogen/albumin ratio was 82,8±19,2 in the control group and 103,8±47,0 in the coronary group. The difference between the two groups were found statistically significant (p=0,001). Fibrinogen/albumin ratio was 91,8±25 in the coronary group with low syntax score and 125,5±66,3 in the coronary group with medium-high syntax score. The difference between the two groups were found statistically significant (p=0,001). We found a statistically significant weak positive correlation between the degree of syntax score and fibrinogen/albumin ratio (r=0,359, p=0,002). We found also a statistically significant weak positive correlation between the degree of syntax score and age of the patients (r=0,282 p=0,018). We found fibrinogen/albumin ratio, age and gender of the patients are the parameters affect the degree of syntax score and have a statistically significant difference when we compared the patients with NCA+ the patients with low degree syntax score against with medium-high degree syntax score in multivariate logistic regression analysis. OR:1,031 %95 CI (1,014-1,048) p<0,001 for fibrinogen/albumin ratio. In ROC analysis, value ≥85 of fibrinogen/albumin ratio demonstrates the severity of coronary artery disease in 68% sensitivity and 57% specificity. Conclusions: Plasma fibrinogen/albumin ratio in patients with high degree syntax score is statistically significantly higher than with low degree syntax score. Fibrinogen/ albumin levels are a predictor of the severity of coronary artery disease. Keywords: Fibrinogen, albumin, fibrinogen/albumin ratio, Syntax score, stable angina pectoris
