Özet (EN)
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most common and progressive neurodegenerative diseases followed by dementia. Although the important features of its pathophysiology are well established, the precise causes of AD are still not fully understood. Currently, there is no treatment for the disease. The introduction of the effects of S.multicaulis essential oil on the ADrat model using a number of tests will allow the assessment of natural resources of our country in the health field. In this study, neuroprotectant effects were investigated in Alzheimer type dementia rat model which is formed with scopolamine in animals by S.multicaulis essential oil which is naturally distributed in Turkey. The effects of S.multicaulis essential oil on behavioral symptoms such as memory disorders, anxiety and depression, which are the most important symptoms of AD, have been examined. S.multicaulisbelongs to the family of S.multicaulis Lamiaceae which is used in many diseases, especially neurological diseases in Turkey and in the world as a natural remedy traditional or alternative medicine. Volatile oils were isolated from the samples collected from natural habitats and volatile oil components were analyzed using GC-MS and GC-MS / FID. The animal model of AD was created by a pharmacological method of scopolamine injection. Prior to the behavioral tests, rats were exposed to inhale essential oils (SEO 1% and SEO 3%) as control. In addition to the effects of S.multicaulis essential oils on cognitive and spatial memory skills of rats, anxiolytic and antidepressant effects were measured by in vivo behavioral methods, such as Y-Lab Test, Radial Arm-Lab Test, Raised Plus-Lab Test and Forced Swimming Test. The effects of enhancing the cognitive activity of S.multicaulis essential oil in scopolamine-treated rats were investigated using the Y-maze. Another test for observing the effects of volatile oil application on the spatial memory of rats with scopolamine is the radial arm labyrinth test. The parameters used for the radial arm labyrinth test are memory errors and reference memory errors. The elevated plus maze test was used to assess the effects of S.multicaulis essential oil on scopolamine-related anxiety behavior. The Forced Swimming Test was used to test the effects of S.multicaulis essential oil against depression-like behavior with scopolamine.S.multicaulis volatile may provide clues to the treatment of Alzheimer type dementia model.
