Study of immunological markers as predicts mortality in COVID-19 patients

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a newly discovered respiratory ailment caused by SARS-CoV-2, has just become pandemic. It was the goal of this research to evaluate the levels of MIP-1 and IL-6,13 in serum from patients and analyze the relationship between the severity of COVID-19 patients. Between January 2021 and April 2021, a case-control study was conducted on 90 patients aged 35 to 65 years old. The patients were divided into three groups based on the severity of their disease, with 42 patients having mild/moderate cases, 30 suffering from severe cases, and 18 suffering from critical cases. ELISA was used to quantify MIP-1, IL-6, and 13 in all participants. Results showed that serum MIP-1, IL-6, 13 levels in severe and critical cases had a higher significantly raises in patients when compared with healthy group. The correlation analysis revealed significant positive correlations of some biochemical parameters with serum MIP-1 α, IL-6, 13 levels in patients. Concluded that the increase level of MIP-1α, IL-6, 13 may help to prevent patients from developing severe illness as early predicts markers for disease severity.
