Özet (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the job satisfaction level, the safety climate attitude and the intention to quit of the engineers working in aquaculture, processing (packing and packaging) and feed production plants. The study followed the quantitative research method. Within this framework, 26 demographic information questions, Minnesota Job Satisfaction Questionnaire Short form consisting of 20 questions and the 4-question Intention to Quit Scale were used. The Nordic Safety Climate Scale was adapted to Turkish, and as a result, a 31-question scale was obtained. Through factor analysis, 31 items were reduced to 22 items, and this version of the scale was used in the study to determine the safety climate attitude of the employees. The field study was carried out in İzmir, Aydın and Muğla provinces between October 2018 and December 2019. Around 110 natural person and legal person enterprises were visited in the provinces and 276 questionnaires were completed. 129 people completed the questionnaire through social media applications. A total of 340 questionnaires were evaluated statistically. The SPSS was used for statistical analysis. The SPSS and LISREL package programs were used for factor analysis. For validity and reliability, the Cronbach Alpha coefficient was calculated, Kaiser-Myer-Olkin (KMO) and the Bartlett test were done. As the parametric methods, the Independent Sample t-test (t-table value), the ANOVA test (F-table value), and the Tukey test (for more than three variables) were used. As the non-parametric tests, the Mann-Whitney U test (Z-table value), the Kruskal-Wallis H test (χ2-table value), and the Bonferroni pairwise corrections test (for more than three comparisons) were used. Spearman correlation coefficient was used to examine the relationship between measurement values that have no normal distribution. The results obtained from the study revealed that as age increased, job satisfaction (JS) also increased, adoption of safety climate (SC) measures increased, and intention to quit (IQ) decreased. It was determined that there was no difference between the genders in terms of JS and there was a significant difference in terms of SC and there was no difference in terms of IQ. It was determined that as the monthly net income increased, JS and SC increased and IQ decreased. As the weekly working time increased, JS and SC decreased and IQ increased. It was found that the opportunity to take a weekend break increased the attitude of JS and SC and decreased the IQ. The results further revealed that there is a direct relationship between job satisfaction and safety climate, while the relationship between job satisfaction and intention to quit is inversely proportional. It was found that the increase in the safety climate attitude causes a decrease in the intention to quit, and the decrease in the job satisfaction and safety climate attitude scores increases the intention to quit. A statistically inverse relationship was observed between the intention to quit and job satisfaction and safety climate.
