Investigation of separation / thread function of "Bulut" and "İplik" motifs in gilded samples selected from Süleymaniye Library

While different styles and motifs are the main elements in the pattern design in Turkish decoration, the preferred elements are considered as auxiliary elements. In this context, the original motif like cloud, rûmî, leaf and yarn are the auxiliary elements such as the kuzu of the ruler. While both main and auxiliary elements can be found in free, entangled state in the pattern designs of Tezyini arts, they can also feature layouts. This feature of motifs and patterns is important enough to require special work on the issue. The studies that critically examine the cloud pattern and the thread forming feature independently are very important in terms of fully understanding the basic principles of classical gilding designs. In this study, our aim is to make a detailed research on rare samples made in terms of the cloud and yarn in the illuminations in the illuminations selected from the Süleymaniye Library, and the layout features in the pattern. In this three-part study, firstly, the etymology function and varieties of the main factor which is the main factor of our subject are discussed. In the Turkish illumination pattern design, especially the sheets, which have been used widely with the feature of rumi, yarn and cloud motif sheets, were emphasized on the aesthetic values that they gained in the spaces with color, motif and technique elements within the pattern. In this study, only thread and cloud motifs were plotted. Yarn and cloud flour separation (sheet / tarh) functions, museum (illuminated) manuscripts are very rich in terms of manuscripts selected from the Suleymaniye Library tried to analyze the illumination samples; are illustrated by example drawings. In the third chapter, original applications inspired by yarn and cloud motifs are given.
