Investigation of bacterial pollution level and tetracycline resistance genes of Sultan Marshes

Abstract (EN)

In this study, some physico-chemical parameters of Sultansazlığı National Park (Kayseri) have been measured, bacterial contamination level, against 15 different of antibiotics resistance levels and Multiple Antibiotic Resistance (MAR) rates have been determined by an identification of isolated bacteria. Resistance genes of bacteria that are resistant to tetracycline have been investigated. In the research, water samples has been taken from 6 different stations in 2 different periods (April and September). It has been determined that the Sultansazlığı region is of high quality in terms of average temperature, pH and electrical conductivity values according to the 'Internal Water Resources Regulations'. While there were no significant findings in terms of total coliform number in April, the number was found to be high (2400> kob/100 ml) in 2. station in September. As a result of the analyses, it has been determined that 300 isolates belong to 5 different species and the dominant species are Escherichia spp. isolates. It has been determined that the isolates have high resistance (>50%) to Penicillin, Cephalothin and Cefazolin. In addition, MAR findings have been found in 100% of the isolates. Resistance to tetracycline has been detected in 14 bacteria (4.79%), and 5 different resistance genes (tetA, tetB tetC, tetM and tetP) has been detected in these bacteria. While all of 14 isolates (100%) has had a tetA resistance gene, followed by; It is followed by tetB, tetM, tetP and tetC gene. The results reveal that Sultansazlığı National Park has the first and second quality water in terms of Physico-chemical parameters, however it is microbiologically polluted.
