Abstract (EN)

Fragrances have taken place in various religious and philosophical ceremonies throughout history. Recent scientific research shows that fragrances are much more effective on humans than previously thought. These works can contribute to the explanation of the words of the Prophet who said "…fragrance have been made dear to me…" about fragrance. In this study, the use of fragrance in sunnah has been investigated based on the hadith "…fragrance have been made dear to me…". In the introduction, information about fragrance and sense of smell was given; the reasons for the usage of scent in history and other religions have been explained. Then, the words related to fragrance in the Holy Quran were examined. It has been determined that each of these words is used as a blessing of heaven. In the first part, the hadiths of the Prophet on the fragrance and sense of smell were examined under different headings according to their context. It is seen that fragrances were used frequently in all areas of life during the Prophet period. In addition to its personal daily use, the spaces were also scented; fragrances have been used for different purposes such as for treat, for treatment, or for obtaining dyes. In the first part of the second chapter, the use of fragrances of the Prophet has been studied. It is stated in the hadiths that the main source of the fragrance is paradise. It has been stated that using pleasant scents is a sunnah of all prophets, not only the Prophet. On the other hand, it is seen that Muhammad used musk most and mentioned musk most in his hadiths. In addition to its use, it has been determined that he uses good and bad smells in his depictions and similes. He preferred the scent and the sense of smell to embody the narration of abstract subjects such as morals and the afterlife. Finally, in the second chapter, the hadith "…fragrance have been made dear to me…" has been examined in terms of chain of narration and text. It has been tried to explain the reasons why he mentions the beautiful scent and the nature of the scent in this hadith. Using fragrance with the advice of the Prophet has been a sunnah that is widely known in all times and performed to worship.
