Abstract (EN)
Sustainable development; Especially recently, it appears as a concept whose existence is understood as humanity has not left a livable environment for themselves and future generations by consuming the existing resources in nature unconsciously. Carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide created by human activities in nature. People left various traces in nature throughout their life. The traces left by humans on nature negatively affect our world life and cause the formation of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. While this increase experienced due to global warming may result in irreparable consequences, developed and developing countries, realizing this danger, held various meetings in order to draw attention to this issue and take measures. In this thesis, the relationship between sustainable development and carbon footprint is addressed specifically for G-8 countries. Panel FMOLS data analysis was performed in this study. In the analysis part of the study, the number of trademark applications, the number of patent applications, the ratio of R&D expenditures to GDP and the effect of the population on carbon dioxide emissions were investigated in the G-8 countries (United States, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, France, Japan, Canada and Russia). . According to the results obtained from the FMOLS estimator, it has been observed that the number of brand and patent applications and R&D expenditures have a very low effect on carbon dioxide emission both in the panel and country based results.
