Abstract (EN)

One of the most important agenda items of today is that fast consumption is not ecological sustainable. The fashion industry is one of the sectors where production and consumption take place very quickly. Against this situation, sustainable fashion solutions are produced, but excessive consumption does not slow down. The thesis focuses on the purpose of reducing the waste of the fashion industry, which is growing in size with fast fashion. In the fashion industry, wastes appear in two forms as pre-consumer and post-consumer waste. In this research, cutting waste, which is one of the post-consumer wastes, is studied. In the first part of the research, fast fashion and its effects are explained. The situation of wastes and waste management issues are discussed and designs related to zero waste are examined. Cutting wastes consist of spaces between the patterns in the marker plan. As a result of the investigations, it is seen that in the field of zero waste fashion design, there are few designs where cutting waste is used directly in a garment. Research is directed to this gap in the field. İn the research, garments that can be produced in the industrial system are designed, before the spaces between patterns become cutting waste. 3 dimensional virtual clothing design programs are used for the design of clothes. In the last part, practical-based design researches are carried out with the gaps between the patterns. In the designs, the pieces are combined with the patchwork technique, which is also defined as one of the zero waste fashion design methods. As a result, in order to support sustainability in the research, it is aimed to provide a new initiative for zero waste and designs are developed.
