Abstract (EN)

The crisis in Syria has shifted the bilateral relations between Turkey and the United States of America (USA) to another dimension. The study has been prepared in order to analyze the development and future of Turkey-USA relations in the context of the Syrian civil war. The main research question of the thesis study is to analyze the extent to which the Syrian civil war has affected Turkish-American relations, how the relations between the two countries will develop in the coming years and the impact this has had on the Turkish economy. In this regard, it will be argued that Turkey-USA relations, which have become volatile as a result of the Syrian civil war, will follow an unstable course in the short and medium term, and that the Turkish economy has suffered significant damage as a result of the Syrian crisis. In this respect, these issues will be discussed from a realpolitik point of view. The literature review was applied in the thesis study as a qualitative research method in the context of the purpose and assumptions of the research. Special attention was paid to the analysis of statements made by statesmen together with official documents, which are the primary sources in the thesis study. The analyses of various international think tanks were used as secondary sources within the scope of the subject.
