Abstract (EN)

The commencement of the Syrian crisis in 2011 has led to a substantial humanitarian catastrophe and inspired the displacement of millions of individuals, with a particular impact on the senior demographic. This study seeks to thoroughly examine the intricate healthcare obstacles encountered by elderly Syrian refugees, while also emphasizing the important contributions made by humanitarian and international organizations in tackling these concerns. The study primarily employs a qualitative methodology, that focuses on conducting in-depth interviews with senior Syrian refugees and healthcare specialists to get thorough and detailed insights. This qualitative methodology is improved by doing an exhaustive examination of scholarly articles and publications, which enhances the qualitative findings by offering pertinent contextual and background information. The results of this comprehensive investigation provide useful understanding of the complex healthcare requirements of elderly refugees, including the management of chronic diseases and the addressing of mental health challenges in the context of migration. Furthermore, the study investigates the many approaches by which interventions from humanitarian and international organizations have both aided and hindered attempts to decrease healthcare disparities among elderly Syrian refugees. This study contributes to academic conversations regarding healthcare for refugees and emphasizes the pressing necessity for ongoing collaborative efforts to address the healthcare needs of elderly Syrian refugees amidst the protracted conflict and displacement.
