Evaluation of the clinical success of pediatric glass fiber CRONWS in primary TEETH

Objective: The aim of this study; To evaluate the clinical success, effect on gingival health and parental satisfaction of pediatric glass fiber crowns (GFC) applied to deciduous molars using 2 different luting cements. Method: In our study, 62 GFCs were applied to the primary molars of 38 children aged 5-9 years, using 2 different cement materials [glass ionomer cement (GIC) and resin modified GIC (RMGIC)]. During the 12-month control period, the retention, anatomical integrity, effect on gingival health and parental satisfaction of GFCs were evaluated. Results: In our study, it was concluded that although the highest survival was observed in the group cemented with RMGIC, there was no significant difference between the groups (p>0.05). It was observed that there was no statistically significant change in the plaque index scores of the teeth that underwent GFC compared to the initial values (p>0.05). When the gingival index scores are evaluated, the increase observed in the control sessions compared to the initial values is significantly significant (p≤0.001). It was observed that the parents were generally satisfied with the GFCs, but the satisfaction was lower in terms of durability compared to the aesthetic parameters. Conclusion: In our study, while evaluating the improvements, involvement and periodontal data in GFCs during the two-month follow-up; The success of GFCs in long-term use is partially seen.
