The concentration ability in amateur piano education with suzuki talent education and bartok mikrokosmos methods

In this research, concentration ability in amateur piano education withSuzuki Talent and Bartok Mikrokosmos Methods is examined. The concentrationability for different piano methods are observed. Thus, it is emphasized that pianoeducation improves concentration. The criterias related to concentration skill weredefined and these criterias were applied and the results were found.The subject of this study are 10 years old 4th grade students, who are alsoamateur students.The attitudes of these students to piano education and piano isspesifically important.The stages of the study are, forming the study groups, pre-tests ofconcentration and attitudes, the education program and and post tests. The design ofthe study is a semi- experimental study with an unequal control group. The videorecordings of concentration tests were evaulated by the by three observers by usingthe measuring instrument for concentration skills.For the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics, reliability coefficient, chi?square statistic, Mann Whitney, Wilcoxon U tests, independent and paired samples ttests techniques were used.The results show that, Suzuki Talent and Bartok Mikrokosmos pianoeducation methods both improve concentration skills. Besides, the methods havevnuances in getting the subjects to gain basic music knowledge but in pre-educationand post- education stages, the attitudes of the students did not have differences.All instruments developed in this study are reliable. In piano education themethods which either include or not include concentration can improve concentrationskills.The results show that Suzuki Talent and Bartok Mikrokosmos pianomethods can improve concentration skills.Key Words; Concentration, Piano Education, Attention Deficit Disorder,Attention, Suzuki ?Talent Education?
