Abstract (EN)

In this study main sealing components frequently used in processes are classified; working principles, range of usage, material species of their pieces, functions, assembling situations in sample constructions are explained detailedly and stress analyzes in recently used pc programs of the sealing components are cited. Also, the gas sealing situation without using a solid sealing component is discussed under another title.Recently, in the machines, in order to supply constant working, instead of primitive sealing components, the mechanical sealing components with high sealing ability are used. The development in endustry enabled usage of more safe stuffing boxes. By increasing demand about most used machines like pomps and compressors and their more common usage , the importance of the stuffing boxes has been understood . The necessity of permanent working of this machines without breakdown has carried a critical position not to cause production loss and ceasing in the actuation.At the seventh section of our study, the stuffing boxes has been explained under the titles of soft stuffing boxes and mechanical stuffing boxes and factors affect their workings are explained under the title of environmental factors. And by the contributing parameters gained from some operation as developing new systems extend stuffin boxes terms of life, measuring resistance life of developed ones in the test device and applying a sugar production unit in a factory a mechanical stuffing box fixed into a lime milk pumps cost analyse has been done. As a result, it is examined that mechanical stuffing boxes had amortized themselves by working for 750 hours and on the analogy that sealing made with match stuffing boxes, had supplied 8000 hours income and type 7 stuffing box organisation experiment with mechanical stuffing box introduced best result among the mechanical stuffing box experiments and graphite-ceramic had been the best surface couple used under equal conditions.
