Taekwondo's body awareness levels and healthy nutrition observations

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the body awareness and healthy eating obsession status of taekwondo athletes according to various variables. A total of 637 athletes, 383 (male) and 254 (female) competing in the senior and junior categories participated in the study. Personal information form, Body Awareness, and Ortho-15 scales were applied to these athletes. Statistical analyses were performed in the SPSS program and the significance level was evaluated as p<0.05. In this study, when the gender, marital status, physical appearance satisfaction, age, and education level variables of the participants were examined, there was a significant difference in body awareness (p<0.05), while there was no significant difference in body awareness in the variables of national athlete, years of doing sports and nationality level (p>0.05). When the gender, national athlete, physical appearance satisfaction, and nationality level variables of the participants were examined, there was a significant difference in healthy eating obsession (p<0.05), while there was no significant difference in marital status, age, education level and years of doing sports (p>0.05). As a result, it can be said that taekwondo athletes have high body awareness levels, and in terms of their orthorexia nervosa (healthy eating obsession) status, they have normal eating behavior.
