Abstract (EN)

Culture is carried forward by the heritage codes to further generations. Social order of a society where it secures this transfer is at the same time the biggest auditor of these codes. These cultural codes might change over time due to the changes in social orders and living conditions of a society. People who inherited these cultural codes are at the same time the biggest protectors of these cultural heritage. First thing come to minds with the word "Alevism" are the people who loves Ali and who are adherent to teachings of Ali. One of the ritual of Alevism culture is "Semah". Alevi communities who are used to live in Turkey's borders has been into an identity striving especially since establishment of the Republic of Turkey. This process was earlier started by Law No.677 abolished dervish lodges (Tekke ve zaviyeler) and more deeply this law caused major changes in way of experessing of both life style and religios rituals of Alevi communities who were inteded to be a close community. The closing down of Cem Houses and at the same time migration wave to Turkey in 1950s caused Alevi communities resided in Turkey to fall apart. Because of globalism and cultural interactions Alevi communities has started to have an identity problem have tried to find new ways to express their identity. Socities transfer their social storage to the future generations by customs and tradtions. These customs and traditions might change over the time due to interactions with other cultures, customs and traditions. The aim of this study is to contextualize dansing Semah (semah dönmek) ritual in Tahtaci weddings (Antalya province, Manavgat County, Kalemler Village) and explain the reasons why a religious ritual (Semah) was appeared in a wedding in Kalemer Village (Antalya province, Manavgat County). Obtained data was construed with the case study and descriptive analysis method and direkt observation method in the field area is used to get the data. Keywords: Alevism, Tahtaci, Identity, Semah
