Takiyyüddin Mehmed Emin Ali Bey's life and his book of named Mûsika-i Hümâyûn's History

In this study, Takiyyüddin Mehmed Emin Ali Bey's work named Mûsika-i Hümâyûn Tarihi will be transcribed in Latin alphabet, and information will be given about the life of the author and the content of the work. The original book was written in Ottoman Turkish, and now is registered in the manuscript library in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Atatürk Library. Takiyyüddin Mehmed Emin Ali Bey is an officer who has served in Mûsika-i Hümâyûn since the foundation years of Mûsika-i Hümâyûn. He rose to the rank of major and retired there. He wrote the book introducing the establishment of Mûsika-i Hümâyûn and first generation musicians. While writing the work, he limited it to the period in which he lived. He recorded the information from the work of people who lived at his time, from official documents and from his own memories. The work, which is recorded as Mûsika-i Hümâyûn Tarihi, contains a lot of valuable information such as the establishment of Mûsika-i Hümâyûn, the biographies of the musicians who passed from Enderûn-i Hümâyûn to Mûsika-i Hümâyûn, their ranks and the dates they had been in charge. The author could not complete this work. The printed version of the book has not been detected. For this reason, very few references have made to this work in recent sources about the history of music, especially the Mûsika-i Hümâyûn. The PDF file of the work we used in the study, called Mûsika-i Hümâyûn Tarihi, was obtained online from the manuscripts section of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Atatürk Library. In the study, the History of Mûsika-i Hümâyûn was transcribed into the Latin alphabet. The study consists of three parts. In the first chapter, information is given about the life of Takiyyüddin Mehmet Ali Bey and the features of his work called Mûsika-i Hümâyûn Tarihi. In the second part, information is given about the transition from Enderûn-i Hümâyûn to Mûsika-i Hümâyûn and the structure of Mûsika-i Hümâyûn. In the third part, the text is transcribed into Latin letters. The study is completed with conclusion and bibliography.
