Investigation of anticipation time of 7th and 8th grade middle school students who were participating team and individual sports

The purpose of this study is to investigate anticipation time of 7th – 8th grade middle school students who are participating team sports (basketball and handball) and individual sports (table tennis and badminton) from Hatay. In this study the importance of anticipation time on sport performance is tried to revealed. 116 male and 121 female middle school students who were participate school sports in Hatay in 2011-2012 education year, were participated this study. Bassin Anticipation Timer was used to gather data. The study revealed whether students who participate team sports (basketball and handball) differ than students who participate individual sports (table tennis and badminton) in their anticipation time. Also differences in anticipation time between male and female students, between students who play basketball and handball, between students who play table tennis and badminton were also to be studied. Influence of year in sport experience and age on anticipation time was also investigated in this study. One Way Anova and t test were used according to the purpose of study. Analyses of the data revealed that three is a significant difference between students who were participate team sports and individual sports. When it was looked at the team sport, there was a significant difference between students who play basketball and handball, however, when it was looked at the individual sports, there was no significant difference between students who play table tennis and badminton. Also result showed that there was no significant difference between male and female students in their anticipation time. There was significant difference in anticipation time when it was looked at the year in sport experience. Students who participated sport 1 year differ than students who participated sport 2,3 and 4 years in their anticipation time.
