Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the concept of death was examined the reflection of to Turkish literature in the period from Tanzimat to the Republic. In different literary periods, differences in the theme of death have been determined according to sociological, psychological and political changes. The results have been reached by using the artists who can handle the death in an original way on the genre of novel, story, theater and poetry. The Tanzimat period was examined separately as first generation and second generation, and importance was given to Akif Paşa's innovation light before Tanzimat period. When period of Servet-i Fünun is examining, the period of Fecr-i Ati was not examined for there was not death theme that could rise above the Servet-i Fünun period or separated from many ways. Neither Servet-i Fünun literature, nor the Fecr-i Ati literature, which is not included and the so-called Intermediate Generation artists, the freedom of ideas given by their independence has been important in the thesis. Then the thesis was concluded Halide Edip was put on the foreground who is only an artist from the National Literature era.
