Poligamy in Turkish novel from Tanzimat to Republic and deception

In this study, the issue of polygamy was discussed in the Turkish novel from the Tanzimat period to the Republic (1870-1922). Divorces that have passed in the Ottoman-Turkish novels and which are legitimate/multi-marital events, room practices with legal grounds in Ottoman society, mistresses of married individuals, divorce of one of the wives emotionally or sexually and deceiving divorces have been examined. The views of the novelists on their novels related to the subject and the examples of the works which are processed in the events of the subjects are revealed. After the identification of the material, it was seen that the viewpoints of the authors were different from each other. It has been found that some authors have positively approached legal marriage/polygamy and oddity practice, and some have approached it negatively. Apart from that, almost all of the authors have a negative viewpoint against the mistresses of holding and deceiving. It has been seen that some of the writers criticized the fact that the right to divorce in Ottoman law was only for men but welcomed by some writers. It has been determined that the main reason for the differences in the viewpoints of these authors is the mentality difference.
