Taraklı lies in the eastern part of Marmara Region and southeastern part of Sakarya. It covers an area of 33.400 hectar.The geological structure of the county is mountainous image and land structure that streams are made deep valleys.The most important river of Taraklı is Göynük Stream. Göynük Stream which is a branch of Sakarya River, reaches from Geyve to Sakarya River, after passing through the centre of Taraklı.In Taraklı, which was asubdistrict from 1926 to 1928, municipolity was founded in 1954. It had been a borough of Geyve until 1987 and became a county after this year.Taraklı constitutes 22 villages and 4 districts. The total population of the county was 7.337 in 2010. 2.983 of the population inhabitants in the centre, 4.354 people who are the rest of population live in the villages.Village settlements are usually south and north of the town centre which is lying eastward westward in the valley of Göynük Stream. The town centre and all villages have mass-settlement.The major living supplies are agriculture and stockbreeding. % 27 of Taraklı is an agricultural area. The most important agricultural products are wheat and fodder. Besides, fruit has an important role in its economy, too.
