The contribution of technology usage on students? success in history teaching

The governing power of technology usage in human?s daily life has been spread significantly since the second half of the 20th century. In the 21st century, in which the flow of information is fast, using technological developments in education and teaching is inevitable.As a result of the growing dominance of visuality in mass media, the advantages of information technologies attract people?s attention in education and teaching and the usage of it has been getting higher as in the other parts of the society. With the usage of information technologhy and the advantages of using visual aids in history lessons has made history teaching easier and more productive.The most important result of using information technology in history lessons is the increasing interests of students. With the help of using technology in history lessons, historical knowledge becomes more permanent in students? mind and they enjoy the lessons more and they become more successful.Our study, in which the contribution of technology usage on students? success in history teaching has been handled, has three parts. In the first part, history teaching in Turkey has been discussed in different ways starting from past. In the second part of the study the recent effects of information technology in history lessons has been handled. Finally in the third part, the search and the assessment of technology usage and its effects on history lessons haw been explained by using different types of statistics.
