Abstract (EN)
The 31 March Incident is a military rebellion happened in the beginning of the Constitutional Monarchy Period. The first attampt to pass to the constitutional monarchy was on December 23rd 1876 but The Constitutional Period couldn't be long lasting because of the Parliament's holiday in 1978. This holiday decision had led to a stronger opposition group against the administration The opposition, led by the Committee of Union and Progress, acted in a systematic way, had put pressure on the administration of II. Abdulhamid and got II. Proclamation of the Constitutional Monarchy. The idea of the proclamation of the constitutional monarchy was to prevent the disintegration of the empire and strengthen the Ottoman unity, rather than the transition of the country to a democratic and modern administration. However, shortly after the 1908 revolution, solders and the public began to develop reactions against the actions of the government. The repressive attitudes of the Committee of Union and Progress have increased the opposition and the unrest and the March 31st Rebelion has emerged. This movement of rebellion, which was issued by the Fighter Battalions in the capital of the Ottoman Empire on 31 March 1325 with the Rumi calendar, was suppressed by the Movement Army which came to protect the constitutional monarchy from Thes Saloniki. Those who had a finger in the rebellion were tried in military courts. The March 31st Incident left deep traces in the Ottoman history and influenced the later periods with its results. In our study, these issues are emphasized.
