Modularity in the historical period and examining the modularity on the "Şehzade Mehmet Mosque".

MODULARITY IN THE HISTORICAL PERIOD AND EXAMININGTHE MODULARITY ON THE ?ŞEHZADE MEHMET MOSQUE?SUMMARYThe first subchapter of the first section of the thesis, which is made up offour sections, contains the explaining of proportion, module and modularity andit?s given the definitions that are related with the subject. After that, it?sincluded the opinions about the module in archaic age which belong to theintellectuals of the period. And also, the existence of the module in nature and inart is studied and the examples that belong the subject are researched. In thesubsection which exists with the title: modularity in architecture, it?s examinedthe types of the proportion and the methods of geometry that are used inarchitecture.In the second section which is titled with the modularity in the process ofarchitectural chronogram; the concept and the usage of the module in thearchitecture of the antiquity, middle age, The Renaissance and the Industry Ageis researched from the written sources and the examples which are found areexamined.The third section is the Modularity in the Anatolian Turkish - IslamicArchitecture And Architect Sinan?s Buildings. In this section, modularity in theTurkish - Islamic architecture, the concept and the usage of the module in theOttoman buildings until the Architect Sinan?s age are researched from thewritten sources; and the factors that are the initiator to Architect Sinan?sbuildings, are examined. In the subsection that is titled of the ?Sinan?s Period?,it?s given information about the life and the art emphaty of the Architect Sinan.After that; in the part of this chapter, which is named by using of modularity onthe buildings of Sinan; work of modules about Sinan?s buildings are researchedand the examples are examined.Examining the modularity of the Şehzade Mehmet Mosque, constitutes thefourth section. After examining the historical information about the constructionof the mosque, it?s given short knowledge about the location and the planning ofthe mosque complexe. In the part that is defined by Şehzade Mehmet Mosque;the architectural structure, plan and the facade designs of the mosque areexamined from the researchesof the written sources and also from the datum gained by observation,photographs and the drawings. The second part is formed by the researching ofthe modularity subject in the Şehzade Mehmet Mosque. In this part, similarworkings about the mosque which are made before, are examined and explainedwith the examples. After that, module analysises are applied on the plan ,section and the facade drawings of the mosque. In the last part of this chapter,the results are realized.
