Abstract (EN)

Cocoon has a great importance worlwide from past to present, because it is one of the natural source of fiber. In the historical journey of the cocoon up to silk, analyzing the techniques applied in the past, natural cultivation and application methods, phases of the material after the silk is secreted until the yarn and covers the process from fiber to procurement methods. Weaving methods according to the usage areas in the world, explaining the process of use,cocoon cultivation districts and it is aimed to increase the production of textile fibers by revitalizing the areas of cocoon cultivation and disappearance of silk-like silk. Finishing processes of the cocoon during the time of the weaving with the yarn, using on dying and weaving have been expained and backed by visuals. By reviving the silk, some contemporary adaptations programmes have been applied to be able to encourage the people under the name of the public incentives.
