Abstract (EN)

In this study, the implementation of BiLTeMM applications in the teaching of the 8th grade Simple Machines unit was carried out by using pre-test / post-test within the context of a descriptive pattern which is one of the mixed-method research methods in order to determine the effect of students against STEM attitude levels, interest and scientific process skills towards STEM professions. The research was carried out with 44 students studying in the 8th grade of Hazar Middle School in Maden district of Elazığ province in the fall semester of 2018-2019 academic year. An 8-week program including BiLTeMM activities was applied to the students who participated in this study. Quantitative data of the research; The Scientific Process Assessment Test was collected with the scale of attitude towards STEM and interest to STEM professions. The qualitative data of the research were collected through the diaries and semi-structured interviews held by the students during the practices. SPSS 22 package program was used in the quantitative analysis of the data. In order to determine the significance of the difference between pre-test and post-test scores obtained from the study groups, the findings obtained using paired sample t-test were interpreted. As a result of the analysis of the data, it was determined that there is a significant difference between STEM attitude levels of students and their interest in FeTeMM professions and scientific process skills. In the analysis of qualitative data, the diaries and semi-structured interviews written by the students were evaluated with content analysis. As a result of the analysis of qualitative data, the students stated that the lessons were more fun and their interest in the course increased. He also stated that in the face of any problems they face, they develop solutions and develop their creativity. Some suggestions were made according to the results of this study. Key Words: Scientific Process Skills, Level of Interest to FeTeMM Professions, STEM Attitude Scale, Secondary School Students, BiLTeMM Education, Simple Machines
