Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to investigate the attitudes and self-confidence levels towards physical education and sports lessons of students attending transportation center secondary schools based on certain variables. The data collection tools used were Physical Education and Sports Class Attitude Scale, Piers-Harris Self-Concept Scale, and Personal Information Form. Data analyses were conducted using the SPSS software. It was determined through Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests that the data showed non-normal distribution. Mann-Whitney U and Kruskall-Wallis tests were used for variable comparison. The significance level was accepted as p<0.05. According to the findings, while there is no significant difference in self-confidence levels depending on the glasses use variable (p˂0.05), the significant difference in attitude levels is in favor of those who do not use glasses (p>0.05). According to the family type variable, the attitude scores of those living in a nuclear family are significantly higher than those living in a broken family. According to the variable of parents education level, a higher difference was found in the attitude level in those whose fathers are high school graduates compared to those who are illiterate, and a significantly higher difference was found in those whose mothers have primary and high school education compared to those who have postgraduate education (p˂0.05). When the variable of doing sports and participating in school sports was examined, a significant difference was found in the attitude and self-confidence levels in favor of those who do sports and participate in sports activities (p˂0.05). No significant difference has been found in the attitude and self-confidence levels depending on the variables of age, gender, grade, individual room, BMI, mother's occupation, father's occupation, sleep duration, gym, sports activity organization, being exposed to transportation education and transportation status (p>0.05).
