Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to examine the opinions of the administrators of the primary and secondary schools which provides education through transport and of the parents of the students in the related schools about the risks that can be encountered in the educational institutions and the management of these risks. The case study model is used in the study. The universe of the study consists of the managers of 90 primary and secondary schools which are providing education through transport in Van province İpekyolu, Tuşba and Edremit's central districts and the parents of the students who are subject to transportation in these institutions during the 2018-2019 academic year. The study group consists of 24 volunteer managers who work in 12 schools which are selected from these educational institutions and 12 volunteer parents whose child(ren) go to school by transport. The research is carried out with semi-structured interviews which are prepared for managers and consist of 10 questions and for parents consist of 5 questions. In addition, a 'personal information form' is used for the participants. In order to analyze the data of the study, content analysis is used based on the findings. According to the results of the analysis, the codings are created; and the themes (categories) are revealed by bringing these codings together. In the results of the research, according to the opinions of the managers and parents, the most common risk among the institutions which provides education through transport is the risk of poisoning due to feeding practices and the possibility of accidents because of the existence of untrained service drivers. The managers make similar views in managing risks and state that they use 'control measures', 'warnings', 'communication with the upper unit' and 'teacher assignment' methods respectively. Almost all of the school administrators state that they experience difficulties in managing the risks due to the shortage of authority, so it is determined that the broader powers to be given to the managers could contribute to the business of managing the risks. Key Words Transported education, risk, risk management, methods for risk management.
