Controversies of sahabas (Companions of prophet Muhammad) in tafsir: The example of Taberî (In the context of "Es-Seb'u't-Tivâl)

This study which mentions the controversies in tafsirs of sahaba discusses the narratives that are within in the context of seb'u't-tıvâl in the tafsir of Taberî. The case that Taberi accepts different narratives about verses as controversy, classifies this narratives, expresses preference and evaluates among them is important fort his thesis. The narratives of sahaba and tabiin, and up to Taberî are not categorised in a terminological sense. But the controversies that have occured in tafsir in later periods are classified in two categories: "tenevvu" and "tezat", led by Ibn Taymiyya. Within the frame of this classification, some of the controversies are added to concept of tenevvu in positive meaning and some others are included in concept of tezad in the meaning of disagreements which causes discursion. In this study, it is examined approaches to tenevvu and tezad, and is discusses qualification of narratives. The controversies of sahabas are considered generally within the scope of tenevvu disagreements. It is caused both by the meaning that is attributed to tezad disagreements and by the rejection of the idea that those who are learned religion from them may fall into separation in religious matters. In this study it is discoursed that tafsirs of sahabas is seen both tenevvü disagreements (which may be totted, are within the scope of the versus and refered to same indicative) and tezad disagreement (which may not been compiled and refered to different indicative).
