Abstract (EN)
Cerebrovascular diseases consist the majority among the ones that are affecting the brain. Many studies are being performed to identify the group under risk since noticable amount of chronic extracranial carotid artery stenosis are proven to show progression. According to our expanded literature research we were not able to come across a study dealing with cerebral perfusion deficits due to internal carotid artery stenosis under 70%. The aim of this prospective research was to evaluate the differences in perfusion parameters and to constitute the threshold value of ICA stenosis in case of determining any deficit in cerebral perfusion. The patients with unilateral ICA stenosis under 70% were chosen during the out-patient clinic duty. CT angiography and CT perfusion studies were performed as further evaluations. The rCBF and rCBV parameters were shown to decline whereas the TTP parameter was shown to incline as the degree of steonsis increased. The declination of the rCBF and rCBV parameters were statistically significant among patients with a stenosis degree of 45% and higher in the ICA. On the other hand perfusion parameters have shown the most significant correlation with the ratio of peak systolic velocity values such as the alteration of rCBF and rCBV parameters become most evident as the stenotic ICA/normal ICA peak systolic velocity ratio being 1.55 or greater. In conclusion; perfusion parameters have shown to have statistically significant correlation either with the increasing degree of stenosis in the ICA and eith the ratio of the peak systolic values in both ICA's.
