Abstract (EN)

Considering the world, Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) pavements are preferred, which are more resistant to heavy traffic loads. In the contents of SMA pavement design are used 70-80% coarse aggregate, 8-12% filler, 5-7% binder and approximately 0.3-0.5% fiber. The gap-graded structure and high binder content of Stone Mastic Asphalt cause bitumen drains down from aggregates. Total pavement costs increase due to the high cost of traditional fibers (mineral, cellulose) used to prevent drain down day by day. In this research, the use of textile waste, which is considered as waste in textile factories, instead of cellulose fiber was investigated. Within the scope of this research, Marshall test and Schellenberg bitumen drainage test and Sand Patch test were performed on samples prepared with different amounts of textile waste and cellulose fiber. When the test results are evaluated together, it was determined that textile waste contributed to Marshall stability compared to cellulose fiber and showed high performance by less drainage. The Sand Patch experiment showed that the aggregate gradation used provides the surface texture depth condition. The results of the research showed that textile wastes can be used instead of traditional fibers in terms of both waste disposal and reduction of the cost of pavement.
