Özet (EN)

Along with globalization, developments in terms of media, communication and culture have been experienced. The diversification of mass media and the emergence of new media have brought about a transformation from the millennium age. Therefore, the reputation of every person from every profession, whether male, female, child, young or old, has become fast and easy through published programs, structured sharing, social media sites and performance programs. Fame, along with capitalization, plays an active and encouraging role in social life. In this context, not only fame but media is seen as an important element in the production of social life and fame. In traditional media, content is produced by media intermediaries and professionals, whereas in the new media content production is produced by the users themselves, that is ordinary individuals. Today, as a fame production mechanism, social media offers ordinary people the opportunity to become a celebrity in a very short period of time. Ordinary people with fame are examples for other individuals in society. Nowadays, it can be seen that being able to be a celebrity by the influence of social media is realized faster, easier and especially without any effort than traditional media. This study examines the stages in which the celebrity as a concept and the individual as a concept, from primitive era to the era of globalization, to what values they are attributed to, and to whom they represent. The transformation of fame from traditional to new media is being investigated. Given the fame studies, researchers have explored the historical development of fame through traditional media. In this work, it is seen that celebrities in the traditional media are famous as talents, and the success for celebrity and permanence must be maintained. This whole process is long time and the end result of the efforts. However, the process of becoming a celebrity in the new media is contrary to what is needed in the traditional media. As a result of this study, it has been seen that the people who are famous in the traditional media have provided the continuity of celebrity by using different mass media. This is similar to the passage between texts in literature. That is to say, the people who are famous for the passage between the media have used different circles to ensure the continuity of celebrity. It is now possible to talk about the same situation in the new media. It is seen that today, individuals are involved in at least one of the means of communication such as cinema, radio, television in order to maintain the reputation they earn through social media or other sharing sites. Having a channel in the traditional media has become a momentary and capital-free profession by having a channel through social media sharing sites while being a time and capital profession. So much so that the developments in the historical process from the traditional to the new media have been repeatedly confirmed by Andy Warhol, "One day everybody will be famous for 15 minutes", and even the production of fame has become possible nowadays. Key Words: Fame, Social Media, Television, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube
