Reality on television and its representation

Television has been the main media source in spite of all the technological and social developments in recent years. It is obvious that television which forms life as an industrial area is more than an innocent transposer. Its power is covert because it arouses the feeling of testimony to real life in the audience. But different programme genres, including news programmes, convey the reality by reconstructing and even destroying it. Information and communication technologies influence the forms of communicating with the real world deeply. Representation relation between reality and symbolic forms undergo a change in company with television. Life is so involved with the digital science that an image-oriented cultural construction prevails nowadays. Experiencing life without a media device decreases day by day and people experience everything via representations. And this also affects the whole interpretation process. Reality reproduced by television competes the objective reality and even takes its place. What we need to realize is that message which is created and conveyed by technical devices is and will not be real. Television message is an outcome of a global, consuming, show and entertainment centered reproduction. This study claims that television cannot represent a true image or presentation of the real world contrary to what libaral paradigm asserts, causes a transformation in representation systems and is a device which constructs social reality with its own dynamics. In this sense, television message determines the frame knowledge which we use while constructing social reality.
