Abstract (EN)
Between 2014 and 2015, the İzmir Museum Directorate undertook rescue excavations at a distance of about 1 km to the ancient city of Teos. In these studies, Teos Western Necropolis, apparently located within the Teos ancient city necropolis area, was unearthed. 123 tombs have been identified in this necropolis. It has been understood that the formations of burial ground and cremation have been practiced. With this thesis study, grave types and burial customs belonging to the classical period and the Hellenistic period of the city of Teos which were not known previously were examined. Thanks to grave gifts and other finds in the area, the chronology of the necropolis was uncovered. This thesis is also aimed to contribute to the region of Ionia where there is very little data from the Classical period.
