Özet (EN)
In this work, two-hour composit samples have been taken from Fevzi Çakmak dormitory which is connected to Adana city sewage drainage system, between 2003 to 2005. The adsorption of phenol from municipal wastewater onto fly ashes (Afşin-Elbistan, Seyitömer, Soma) was examined as a function of inital pH, contact time and adsorbent dosages. Effectivenes of fly ashes was compored with activated carbon known as a conventional adsorbent. In addition, obtained data were corrected using the lineer form of Langmuir and Freundlich equations. Experimantal data showed that optimum pH for Afşin-Elbistan, Seyitömer fly ashes and activated carbon was 5, for Soma fly ash was 6. The equilibrium conditions were reached about 6 hour shaking time at optimum pH for all adsorbents. The maximum phenol removal for all fly ash types (Afşin-Elbistan, Seyitömer, Soma) and activated carbon was found 65 %, 80 %, 55% and 85%, respectively. The adsorbation data were beter fined to the Langmuir izoterm since the correlation coefficients for Langmuir izoterm were higher than that for the Freundlich izoterm. Key Words: Adsorption, Fly ashes, Activated Carbon, Wastewater, Phenol
