Abstract (EN)
In this Master thesis, it is aimed to find a usage area for the waste pine cones in the construction area. For this aim, the prepared pine cone particles (PCP) are mixed with cement to obtain new light concretes. Additionally, pine tree resin (PTR) is added into some samples to show whether there is an effect as binder or not. The pine cones are broken into big particles as 0-4 cm, small particles as 0-2 cm and grounded as powder. Some important tests are applied to the new-produced samples; such as; thermal conductivity, density, specific heat, thermal expansion, compressive strength, tensile strength, water absorption rate, drying rate, capabilities of drilling, grooving or dying. The thesis is prepared as 5 chapters. Chapter 1 has the general information and literature survey about the topic. Chapter 2 presents materials and methods. Chapter 3 introduces the measurement techniques and devices. Chapter 4 has the test results and their discussions. Finally, Chapter 5 summarizes the general conclusions.
