Examination of the relationship between stigma i̇n patients with Type 1 diabetes and satisfaction i̇n using diabetes technologies

Aim: This study was conducted with the aim of 'Examination of the Relationship between Stigma in Patients with Type 1 Diabetes and Satisfaction with the Use of Diabetes Technologies'. Material and Method: The study was carried out between 4 July 2022 and 1 March 2023 in hospitals located in Batman and Diyarbakır provinces. The sample of the study consisted of 150 Type 1 diabetes patients between the ages of 12-22 who applied to these hospitals. In the study, "Patient Information Form", "Diabetes Technology Scale" and "Type 1 Diabetes Stigma Assessment Scale" were used as data collection tools. The data were collected by interviewing face-to-face or by interviewing individuals online. The data of the study were made using a package program called SPSS (IBM SPSS Statistics 26). Results: In the study, when the patients' satisfaction with diabetes technologies was examined; It was determined that the satisfaction scores of diabetes technologies were statistically significantly higher in the 15-19 age group, those living in the city, those who work in any job, those who exercise, those who do not discriminate when measuring sugar, and those who do not experience hyperglycemia and who do not experience hypoglycemia. It was determined that as BMI (Body Mass İndex) (kg/m2) increased, individuals' diabetes technology scale scores increased. It was determined that the diabetes technology scale scores decreased as the number of glucose measurements (times/day) increased. It was determined that as the diabetes technology scale scores increased, T1DDDÖ - total scores decreased. Conclusion: As a result of the study, it is recommended to support individuals more about diabetes technologies and increase technology awareness and public awareness in order to reduce the stigma felt in individuals.
