Abstract (EN)

In our study, in the group with type 2 diabetes, those consuming prebiotics and probiotics 2-3 times a day were found to have significantly higher Microbiota Awareness Scale scores compared to those consuming less, while their HbA1c levels were statistically significantly lower. There was a strong negative correlation between Microbiota Awareness Scale scores and HbA1c levels in type 2 diabetics, whereas in the other two groups, a weak to moderate negative correlation was observed. Among those included in the type 2 diabetic group in the study, those who had used ready-made probiotics in the last 3 months had statistically significantly lower HbA1c levels. In the study, among those with type 2 diabetes and prediabetes, participants who reported knowing the terms prebiotic and probiotic had statistically significantly lower HbA1c levels compared to those who reported not knowing. Participants without type 2 diabetes had a statistically significantly higher frequency of regular use of ready-made probiotic products in the last 3 months compared to the other two groups. It was determined that participants without diabetes exercised more frequently and had higher Microbiota Awareness Scale scores compared to diabetic and prediabetic groups.
