Abstract (EN)

SUMMARYTHE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ADIPONECTIN, LEPTIN ANDINFLAMMATORY MARKERS WITH METABOLIC CONTROL IN TYPE IDIABETES MELLITUS AT PEDIATRIC AND ADOLESAN PATIENTSThis review is aimed to identify the relation of insulin resistance with circulatingadiponectin, leptin, TNF- and IL-6 levels. This study is based on to define earlymicrovascular complications of diabetes and to explain the role of adiponectin, leptin, TNF-and IL-6 in identification.88 pediatric patients included to this study. 60 of patients were type I DM and the rest28 were healthy control group. Patient and control group were similar for age, gender, weight,height, BMI and pubertal conditions. Adiponectin level obtained higher in patientgroup(P.0,042 ), althugh TNF- , leptin and IL-6 levels were similar( P >0,05).There was no difference between diabetic progression time and circulatingadiponectin, leptin, TNF- and IL-6 levels. At pubertal period, leptin levels were highotherwise there was no diffrence for TNF- and IL-6 levels at pubertal and prepubertalperiod. There was no relation of circulating adiponectin, leptin, TNF- and IL-6 levels withmetabolic control degree.Among complications in patients who have microalbuminuria(MA) was higher leptinlevels(P>0.41). Although in circulating adiponectin, TNF- and IL-6 levels were similarpatients with or without MA. At diabetic retinopathy patients adiponectin levels werelower(P=0.003) and leptin levels were higher(P=0.003). Addionationally, TNF- and IL-6levels similar in patients with or without diabetic retinopathyAlthough the low number of patients, this is the first review presentinghypoadiponectinemia among type I diabetic retinopathy patients. Patients presentinghypoadiponectinemia and high leptin levels must be evaluated for close follow up fordevelopment of chronic complications and a better metabolic control.KEY WORDS: Type I DM, chronic complications of diabetes, adipose tissue, adiponectin,leptin, inflammatory markers
