In many studies the presence of inflammation triggered by autoimmunity has been proven in the pathogenesis of thyroid dysfunctions as Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Graves' disease. In this study, serum inflammatory marker levels and their association with thyroid function disorders were investigated in patients with autoimmune thyroid dysfunction as well as non-autoimmune thyroid dysfunction.Blood samples were taken from enrolled patients (86 hypothyroid, 67 hyperthyroid) and healty controls in appropriate way and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein(CRP), procalsitonin (PCT), ferritin, mean platelet volume (MPV) were studied in Gaziantep University Medical Faculty Biochemistry and Mycrobiology Labs.While serum levels of ESH, CRP, PCT were significantly elevated in patients with hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, MPV was significantly depressed.Serum levels of ESH, PCT were significantly elevated in patients with otoimmun thyroid desease. While serum levels of ESH, PCT were significantly elevated in patients with non-otoimmun thyroid desease, MPV was significantly depressed.In patients with thyroid dysfunction, inflammatory markers vary significantly were led us to focus on the idea of inflammation in pathogenesis of thyroid dysfunctions. Significantly varying levels of inflammatory markers in both autoimmune and non-autoimmune thyroid disorders, is a strong indicator of low levels of systemic inflammation based in all diseases of thyroid.Key words: Thyroid function disorder, inflammatory markers, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, mean platelet volume
