Özet (EN)

Approximately 7% of the nodules seen in the thyroid gland are malignant, and approximately 80% of them are papillary thyroid cancer. The diagnosis of papillary thyroid cancer is made by FNAB. However, FNAB sensitivity is low, especially in cases with papillary microcarcinoma. In this study, it was aimed to increase the sensitivity by studying survivin and relaxin serum levels among papillary thyroid cancer, nodular goiter and control group and evaluating these results together with FNAB. The ideal diagnostic tumor marker should not be found in normal or benign tissue, but should be detected in all cancers, particularly early or small cancers. It should also be detected in a readily available body fluid such as serum or urine, thus eliminating the need for an invasive procedure. Between September 2020 and February 2021, 26 patients with thyroid nodules and reported as nodular goiter after FNAB, 38 patients reported as papillary thyroid cancer and 26 patients without any thyroid disease as a result of the examinations, who applied to the Fırat University Faculty of Medicine General Surgery Outpatient Clinic, were selected as the control group was included in the study. Serum levels of survivin and relaxin were studied in 3 groups. In conclusion, in this study, no significant difference was found in serum levels of survivin and relaxin hormones between these 3 groups and in the comparison of patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma according to tumor size and number.
