Comparision between titanium and titanium-zirconium implants' stability values via resonance frequence analysis method

Aim of this study is to evaluate titanium and titanium-zirconium alloy implants' stability values using resonance frequency analysis method at different time periods. ISQ (implant stability quotient) values which obtained from patients who have received tissue level pure titanium implants and tissue level titanium-zirconium implants between 2014-2015 at Baskent University Oral and Maxillofacial Department were used in this study. RFA (resonance frequency analysis) measurements which are made right after implant placement, postoperative 7th day, 21st day and 60th day comparision made for two implant groups. Postoperatively 0th, 7th day and 21st day ISQ values were not significantly different between titanium-zirconium and pure titanyum implants. 60th day ISQ measurements were 1.915 higher in titanium-zirconium implants and the difference is statistically significant( p=0.026 < α =0.05). Based on the results of this study titanium-zirconium implants are superior than pure titanium implants by means of stability at 8 weeks(60th day). Titanium-zirconium alloy may be the dominant material in implant material choice in order to increase clinical implant success.
