Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study; The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between perceived toxic leadership behaviors of employees in the food retail industry, organizational depression and organizational-based self-esteem. For this purpose, it will be investigated whether there is a significant relationship between the demographic variables (age, education status, in-company status, monthly income, income satisfaction, etc.) and dependent variables (toxic leadership perception, organizational depression and organization-based self-esteem). It will be examined whether there is a significant difference between the groups formed on the basis of gender, marital status, age, education level, in-company status, years of employment in the status, income satisfaction, etc., in terms of dependent variable levels. In addition, the effect of perceived toxic leadership levels on organizational depression and organizational-based self-esteem, and the predictive effect of organizational depression on organizational-based self-esteem will be examined. In the research, relational screening method was used in accordance with the purpose. The universe of the research consists of market employees in the food retail sector in Istanbul, and the sample consists of mixed market employees consisting of 370 men and women selected randomly, determined by convenient sampling method. The Personal Information Form developed by the researcher to collect data in the study, the Toxic Leadership Scale developed by Schmidt and adapted to Turkish by Çelebi, Güner and Yıldız to measure the perceived toxic leadership levels of the participants, the Organizational Depression Scale developed by Sezer to measure the level of organizational depression and the internal The Organization-Based Self-Esteem Scale developed by Pierce et al. and adapted into Turkish by Erden was used to measure self-esteem. The obtained data were analyzed with the SPSS program. According to the findings obtained as a result of the statistical analyzes, a positive and significant relationship was found between the levels of toxic leadership and organizational depression, and between depression and self-esteem, and no significant relationship was found between toxic leadership and self-esteem. According to the results of the comparison between the groups, the self-esteem levels of the market employees differed in favor of the married ones according to the marital status. As income satisfaction and relationship satisfaction increase, self-esteem increases and the level of organizational depression decreases. As relationship satisfaction with colleagues increases, perceived toxic leadership behavior decreases. According to the variable of leaving the job, it is seen that the reason for leaving the job due to the manager is higher than the other reasons for leaving the job, and they perceive the level of organizational depression and toxic leadership behavior. As a result of linear simple regression analysis, it was found that toxic leadership perception significantly predicted organizational depression and organizational depression predicted organization-based self-esteem. The data obtained were discussed within the framework of the relevant literature.
