Feminist critique of tomris uyar stories

Tomris Uyar ( 1941- 2003) is a storyteller, translator and a essayist who made a name with the works of her which has published in "Papirüs" magazine from 1965. She had found an important place for herself in Turkish literature from the year which her first story book published in 1971 till her death 2003 with eleven story books, diaries published with the name "Gündökümü I-II" and with translations over sixty. As a woman who lived in Turkey she lived the contradictions of the traditional patriarchal structure and she wrote these contradictions from a women's point of view in both at fiction and at insight papers. She expressed her discomfort of woman who was the center of her stories because of their place in family and society. Tomris Uyar attracted an attention to sexism by social and cultural vaules out of ignored women live had allowed her stories to be examined with the feminist critique method. This master thesis evaluate Tomris Uyar's stories that handle life with a gender based view and feminist critique method which repose on basic ideas. Tomris Uyar who was one of the most important names of Turkish short story, emphasised on obstacles which created by men to women self-actualization; she has written stories which demonstrate that women who stand against exploitation and despise by men. Unlike so far studies our opinion is looking Tomris Uyar's stories under the light of feminist critique method will enlighten some elements which supply in real meaning about women in her short story.
