Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research is to examine the materials, composition and ornamental stones used in the Ottoman aigrette with murassa, belts and belt buckles in the Topkapı Palace Museum. In this study, information about the history of Istanbul, its geographical features, information about Topkapı Palace Museum, the art of jewelry and its history, the mines used in jewelery, the techniques used in jewelery, jewelry types, stones and the development of jewelery in Ottoman, and the aigrette and belt were presented. In line with the purpose of this research, an art historian working at the Topkapı Palace Museum was interviewed and an information form was created and evaluated by taking inventory numbers of 11 aigrettes, 5 belts and belt buckles. As a result of the research, according to the information obtained, it is seen that few aigrettes, belts and belt buckles remained from the Ottoman period until today. The reason for this is that when the palace needs gold money, the jewels are removed and melted and turned into money.According to the information obtained in the research, the aigrette that the Ottoman sultans put as a symbol of power is an important jewelry. On the other hand, the belt and the buckles are the symbol of the state and the reign of the sultan by the caliph in the Eyüp Sultan Mosque and the wearing of the belt during the sultan's ascension ceremonies.According to the information obtained in the research, it is seen that among the products examined, the 16th century aigrettes, belts and belt buckles, geometric motifs in the airettes and vegetable motifs in the belts and gold in the aigrettes, belts and belt buckles examined. It can be said that the use of gold was preferred as a symbol of the wealth and power of the Ottoman State.
